Kape Mo’to owner Rodel Margaux Hilado educates journalists on how to effectively incorporate their skills in media and communication into business during a press conference held at T’boli National High School, December 6.

According to Rodel Margaux Hilado, “Your knowledge and skills create economy”.

Emphasizing that the acquired skills of aspiring journalists in media and communication do not only focus on journalism as they can also be effectively utilized in entrepreneurship and business.

He also shared his story of success and humble beginning of how he and his team expanded Kape Mo’to, with the use of accessible media and communication that just started with 1,600 kilos of coffee beans, which later on expanded and developed to become a well-known coffee shop across South Cotabato through the use of communication and media.

Stating that “ Media is very important when it comes to reaching your target”, as he emphasized how with the help of accessible journalism through research and media marketing with the help of photography, he successfully expanded his business.

Additionally, he also stated that through communication, it can widen the range of business expanding not just locally but even internationally, attracting more investment that can further expand the business.

Ensuring a stable, profitable job and becoming a sustainably effective economy for the people.

With this, he encourages the young intellectuals to utilize their expertise in entrepreneurship to expand their choices and opportunities not just in journalism but also in entrepreneurship.


In line with the issue of turning pristine areas of nature into tourist areas, Department of Tourism Officer Rodel Margaux Hilado, in a press conference, emphasized that though it is tourism potential, it is equally essential to consult the community living around it, on December 6, 2025.

According to Department of Tourism Officer Rodel Margaux Hilado, “ At the end of the day, that village or people in that specific area, it could be tangible or intangible tourism potential, are part of the tourism consent.”

Highlighting that it is important to be able to sell that product with experience and knowledge, and to be able to instill willingness in the people around.

He added that when the consultation is given by the locals, that’s when the DOT will start conceptualizing and present ideas to the locals to reach a favorable agreement.

As he emphasized that the success of the tourism is all about the acceptability of the locals around it.”

With this, the DOT will be able to instill an authentic and effectively promote the culture of the Philippines fostering a much safer and peaceful tourism experience.

In accordance with the recent press conference at T’boli National High School, the Department of Tourism officer Rodel Margaux Hilado showcased the government agency’s advancement in both community and economy, December 6.

With the amendment of the Republic Act 9593, the Department of Tourism aims to be an engine of investment, employment, growth, and national development.

Following this, programs such as tourism planning, product development and enhancement, capability building, accreditation, proportions, and marketing are created by the agency, further helping our community to develop.

Furthermore, in helping Filipinos financially, DOT offers numerous opportunities for people to turn their skills and creativity into beneficial jobs, stating that “consultancy through creative writing is needed,” emphasizing that it is a huge business.

In addition to this, they also offer scholarships for students by giving them jobs such as a tour guide, which could earn them 2,000 pesos in a week, enough to sustain their needs. While in South Cotabato, an already signed retirement community is set to launch next year in Agoho, Tupi. Through these programs, opportunities for Filipinos will grow by extending help and a chance to have a stable that will soon advance the economic state of the country.
